Centra Asphere Bifocal
This RGP bifocal lens has been designed to utilise the principles of fitting a spherical lens with the incorporation of the “near” visual correction, thus retaining the comfort, visual acuity, stability and centre thickness of a spherical lens.
No prism ballast is required. The lens can best be described as similar to the centristic bifocal lens previously available, but development by CLC has taken this type of bifocal to a new level where it has been successfully worn by many patients. This simple fitting guide should be followed.
SUITABILITY
The design of the Centra Bifocal incorporates a balance between the back optic zone and the front surface curves for distance and near prescriptions. This design best suits patients with pupil sizes of 3.0 – 4.0mm.
FITTING
- Using the Centra 9.5 fitting set, aim for a nice central spherical fit
- Work out normal Rx for distance. If it is between powers, go for lesser power , e.g. if reading -4.12, select -4.00, not -4.25
- Advise Add Power i.e. Spectacle add power is the best indicator
- Advise average pupil size.

PER CASE PLAN
To make used of the advantages of the per case plan, CLC requires the use of a Centra trial set. These sets can be purchased or loaned. If the initial lens has been selected after use of a Centra fitting set and the final Ex lens is unsuccessful, CLC will issue a credit for 50% of the per lens price.
Price variances are defined as:
- No exchange or refund for unsuccessful fits
- with use of Centra Trial Set
- +/- allows 2 exchanges per order
WARRANTY
Corneal Lens Corp. NZ Ltd guarantees all CLCNZ made lenses against all defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the original invoice date.
