Founded in Christchurch on April 18, 1971, by Ed Curtis, Corneal Lens Corporation (CLC) began a multi-decade legacy of Curtis family involvement following a 1972 transfer from the Wellington Lab. Graeme Curtis assumed ownership in 2001, driving major expansion that culminated in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Wigram, Christchurch, in late 2013. Today, CLC enters a new era of growth and innovation under George Kazzi.

As New Zealand’s largest and most modern ISO-certified contact lens manufacturer, CLC operates a climate-controlled laboratory run by specialist technicians. We utilize advanced USA-made DAC International CNC lathing systems, including the ALM multi-tooling system with robotic loading and laser technology. This ensures submicron lens precision, with every lens laser-engraved for tracking.

CLC specializes in custom RGPs, Sclerals, Ortho-K, and soft lenses, supplying practitioners across New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong, and Singapore. We also distribute disposable lenses, solutions, and dry eye products from top brands including Menicon, EyeSpace, VTI (NaturalVue), Brighten Optix, TheraTears, Heyedrate, Ophtecs, and Evolve.

To resolve complex corneal cases like advanced keratoconus and post-corneal grafts, CLC utilizes the sMap 3D fluorescence-based structured light topographer. By creating fingerprint-precise maps of the cornea and sclera, this technology enables optimal, custom freeform lens designs for patients who need them most.
